I bought this new directly from Whatawatches in Seoul, Korea around February of 2022. Watch is in excellent condition. Very clean and no major wear, scratches or blemishes to mention. Overall, it could present itself as virtually new to the eyes. Intake great care of all my watches. All the original box, packaging, paperwork are included as you can see in some of the photos. A collaboration watch between Stowa and Whatawatches, this takes the Marine Classic 36 with Small seconds to a special level that you will not see anywhere else… Other than another of the only 100 made. Key differences between this and your standard Stowa Marine Classic 36 are. Special Midnight Blue color is used to print nearly all of the numbers/text and graphic elements on the the lovely enamel-like white dial. It is such an awesome color combination and not your typical boring black print on these Marine chronometer style deck watches. The only other colors printed on the dial are black for the Stowa logo and Made in Germany on the dial bottom. And, a special red print for the 60 in the small seconds sub dial. The slim mechanical handwound Swiss ETA 7001 movement is Top Finished Elabore Grade with special “The Great Absolute” engraving on the main winding wheel. Otherwise more commonly known as the “Ying Yang” symbol. It is a design element found in many Asian designs and is a prominent feature in the South Korean flag which is where the watch boutique, Whatawatches, is based. Btw, the movement is handwind only, has a power reserve of approximately 42 hours, and does not hacknthe seconds. If I haven’t pointed it out enough already, it’s all about the details which makes the difference and separates this from the rest of the standard production models out there.. And from any other Marine chronometer style deck watches. The case back has special engravings that are just a bit different than what you’d find on Stowa’s standard offerings within the Marine Classic line. First, “MARINE 36 LIMITED SEOUL EDITION” is engraved on the case back. Additionally, the specific limited edition number for this particular watch is also engraved on the case back, # 91/100. This matches the included paperwork that also states the same limited edition number. Lastly, Stowa usually writes “HANDWINDING” on their case backs. To further make this particular watch different from the pack, it writes “HANDWOUND” instead. FYI, basically the “Midnight Seoul Edition” name derives from the midnight color at night over Seoul Korea. Thus, they made the dial with special print in the midnight blue color. But, if you look in decent lighting, and assuming you aren’t color blind or lack the discerning eye, you can definitely tell the print is a dark blue. Also, when u compare it to the STOWA logo on the dial which is printed in black, you can see the tonal differences since they are basically right next to each other. Dark blue and that clean enamel-like white dial looks so good together. And, th real heat blued hands are also striking over the clean white dial. With the watch trends going back towards smaller more classic sized watches, at 36mm, this is a great compact and slim 8.5 mm! Watch that is great both for dressed up as with and dressed down with t-shirt and jeans. It’s quite flexible and light, comfortable and intrusive.
